Fishing Competition:

Good contest and well supported by 9 teams. Well done Central for 1st and 3rd.

Camping / Cooking Competition:

This went well but there was a feeling that some form of overseeing of the camping area by leaders at all times was needed.  There is also a possibility of inviting ‘novice’ campers to observe and learn during the competition for their future participation.  There is a need for an extra category of questions.  There is also a possibility of adding in some elements of leader training during the competition

Ghost Hunt:

Well done Bedworth for organising the patrol guidelines and risk assessments. The use of District mobile phones was discussed.

Bear Trek – 14th November:

Tony will not be there and there is a distinct lack of support for this event.  Please remember that NAN forms are required for each troop entering the competition

New District Activity:

A new activity is planned for the last weekend of May at John’s Lee Wood campsite.  It will be a bivouac weekend using teams of ¾ scouts with food provided.  It will be treated as an experience camp with some good opportunities for learning new skills.

There is also a possibility of a District shooting competition.

Review of 2009:

Quiz – max of 1 or 2 teams per troop

5-a-side – keep the format as present – the refereeing needs looking at to ensure fairness

Scout Challenge – went well – no approach or departure – tug of war to be kept and possibly a penalty shoot out

Canoeing/Walking – very good weekend – a good bridge between scouts and explorers.

District Camp – will be at Willesly next year

Malvern Challenge – Good event and excellent experience for the scouts. Next year District are having a year off but individuals can still attend if they wish.
